DEMO 2012.
NUS called for a national DEMO in regards to tutions fees and the scarpping of EMA (England) and the chance we may lose it as of 2016. this is unfair and wrong. So we teamed up with Bridgend College and went to show our support with the rest of the UK. What a wicked day, hope i get the chance to attend another protest while i am still your SU President.

White Ribbon Day
STOP DOMESTIC ABUSE

Staff and students at City of Newport Campus took a stand against domestic violence today by raising money for the White Ribbon campaign. The Students Union organised teams into 3 'human white ribbons' to raise awareness for the campaign and have raised over £130 so far.

In BGLZ they have a diary room were people could come and answered a set of questions about domestic abuse, was a great idea and fantastic turn out, even if it was extremely hot :). Well done to everyone who took part and helped support and raise money.
Did you make your pledge? I pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about domestic abuse? if no then link below, please support and make your pledge now, it is never to late.

Sorry i been quiet past 2 weeks, been very busy for me. Went along with fellow Student Officer up to Stafford for FE training byNational Union of Students, then helped with awards evening at City of Newport Campus last Thursday. Beginning of the week then myself and Jennie went up to Deeside College to meet and talk about different ways we both do things, how Learner Involvement can be done better. then beside setting up ready for September a new Equality and Diversity web-site, i helped with Usk and Pontypool Campus awards yesterday. What a fantastic evening it was, Both awards were the highlight of my new job. Congratulations to all winners and well done

Had our annual UGM, first time for me chairing a meeting, was very excited  and nervous. Went very well. Myself, Jennie Dowsell, Craig Thorne, Sue Rees, Zack Jones, Zoe Thomas attended and reports got read and done good, few motions got put forward, Social space, Canteen, Office Positions got added changed and merged.

We had our CCEC that went fine, not much to sort as we done most at the UGM. One thing though was the go ahead to introduce to Coleg Gwent is a mascot... One has been picked and due to be bought, very excited about this as it is sure to stand out and get peoples attention

Is working very closely with Deputy President Craig Thorne and SLO Jennie Dowsell to introduce three maybe four new positions ready for next academic year. Hope to get them approved at UGM which is Thursday 7th June, is hard work but knows it will be worth it in the end.

UGM is the annual meeting for all Student Union Officers and Learners to get together to explain what we have done for the past year, and what we plan on doing for the next year. Every Learner of Coleg Gwent is invited to come and join us. Being held at City of Newport Campus and starts 9am in lecture theater. Hope to see everyone there

Today Myself and Jennie Dowsell (SLO) planned to attend a networking session in Taunton but got cancelled, has been changed to a different day.
Was gutted as really looking forwaqrd to it but now just wait for a new date

Today I traveled to Pontypool Campus and, with Craig and Sue ( Pontypool VP), I attended a meeting with Kieth Backhouse (Campus Director). All looks good and talks went very well, possitive feedback, HIGH possibility that social space plans will take effect from the next academic year.

GOOD RESULT!
